I recently installed Ubuntu on my machine.
I had Vista earlier. I was fed up of Vista.
This is Ubuntu is awesome. Never gets freezed.
I got some ebooks, I needed urgently, from one of my friends. But it was in .RAR format.
I was wondering if there's any RAR extractor for Linux.
I used to use WinRAR on Windows.
I searched online and found the command to install it on my machine.
It's simple.
Open your Terminal (On Ubuntu: Application -> Terminal)
Type: sudo apt-get install unrar
and it's done.
How to use UNRAR?
Type: unrar help
You will see bunch of options that can be used with unrar.
To just extract the files on your current drive, use..
UNRAR e filename.rar

Do certain colors make a customer more comfortable with buying from your site?
Saturday, May 10I recently came across a site which said that color scheme used in site matters alot... Any web designer has merely 30 seconds to attract user's attention and convince him to click ADD TO CART (for example) button.
The scheme of color is not only true for web sites but any advertising media. Different colors have different meanings and associations. They engage your visitors emotions, silently and powerfully. It said, nearly every 12th user visiting a website is colorblind (may be problem with distinguishing some colors). Its a good choice to not to use a combination of Red and Green.

Sunday, June 10A9, a strong new search engine alternative to Google
A9 is a new webcrawler that allows browsing of more than one search engine at once while earning you a discount on Amazon. Google is great for global searches of very specific terms, but if you need to search a general tearm or make a search in more specific databases, it gives you too many disorganized and irrelevant hits to be useful. Here is where A9 excels. A9 provides a focused search of over 300 search engines and databases. Unlike Google, you can search up to 10 of these at once.

Defining the term Web Blog
Thursday, May 31Weblogs may be viewed as an evolved form of personal Web pages, or 'home pages'. The term, coined by Jorn Barger in 1997, refers to a web site that is a 'log of the Web', indicating a record that points to material available on the World Wide Web. A weblog editor is often called a weblogger. The shorthand terms blog and blogger are also commonly used; usage of the word 'blog' has become so common that it has recently been drafted for inclusion in the Oxford English Dictionary.
An excerpt from a definitive definition, written for the Routledge Encyclopedia of Narrative Theory (2005), by Dr. Jill Walker, Department of Humanistic Informatics, University of Bergen, Norway:
“A weblog, or blog, is a frequently updated website consisting of dated entries arranged in reverse chronological order so the most recent post appears first (see temporal ordering). Typically, weblogs are published by individuals and their style is personal and informal. Weblogs first appeared in the mid-1990s, becoming popular as simple and free publishing tools became available towards the turn of the century. Since anybody with a net connection can publish their own weblog, there is great variety in the quality, content, and ambition of weblogs, and a weblog may have anywhere from a handful to tens of thousands of daily readers.”
